Most Americans are fearful about developing an oral health problem. If ignored, dental diseases can be painful and costly. Thankfully, preventing dental issues is more manageable than most people think. With a wide range of treatments and techniques, our team at Semans Family Dentistry can provide preventive care and help you understand the best ways to maintain your smile at home.

Preventive Services

We believe that prevention is often the best medicine. Because of this, we are dedicated to helping you maintain a bright, healthy smile for years to come. To do this, we are proud to offer a variety of preventive services, including:

  • Professional cleanings and exams
  • Sealants
  • Fluoride
  • Periodontal maintenance
  • TMJ therapy
  • Athletic mouthguards
  • Nightguards

With these treatments, we can keep your smile healthy while preventing dental problems like cavities, gum disease, and others from developing.

Why Are Cleanings and Exams Important?

Keeping up with your bi-annual cleanings and exams is one of the most important things you can do for your smile. During your professional cleaning, a skilled hygienist will carefully clear away any plaque and tartar along your gum line and the surface of your teeth. They will brush, floss, and sanitize your teeth to ensure they are squeaky clean. As they do this, your hygienist will also check your gums, enamel, and other oral tissues for anything unusual.

After your cleaning, Dr. Tom Semans will conduct a thorough examination of your mouth. While he does this, he will check for signs of cavities, gum recession, infection, oral cancer, and a variety of other ailments. Once your exam is complete, he will discuss his findings with you and suggest further treatment, if necessary.

Coming to our office twice a year for your cleaning and exam will help our staff keep your mouth clean while checking for potential problems. If we can catch an oral health issue early, it will be simpler, less expensive, and less painful to treat.

Will My Insurance Cover Preventive Care?

Most major insurance companies provide some, if not full, coverage for regular checkups and preventive services. Before your visit, we will review your insurance plan to help you understand what is covered. We are happy to offer flexible payment plans for those who do not have full insurance coverage. If you have any questions or concerns about financing and insurance, please call our office today. A friendly member of our team will be happy to help.
