What Can Bonding and Veneers Treat?
We use bonding and veneers to correct minor blemishes on the teeth. These treatments are beautiful, cost-efficient, and long-lasting. Both bonding and veneers are tooth-colored for them to blend in with the rest of your smile. We custom design each to enhance the look and shape of your teeth.
These treatments are ideal for those with:
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Very small or misshapen teeth
- Small gaps between teeth
- Tooth discoloration
What is Dental Bonding?
Bonding is a quick and inexpensive way to address cosmetic dental issues. The bonding material is made from a strong, tooth-colored resin. Unlike porcelain veneers, we can perform a bonding treatment in one short visit! Its simplicity and inexpensiveness make bonding one of our most popular cosmetic services.
Bonding starts as a putty-like material. To apply a dental bond, Dr. ]Semans will begin by adding a slight texture to the surface of your teeth. The texture will help the resin stay in place once it has dried. Afterward, Dr. Semans will mold the putty onto your tooth and adjust it to ensure it looks natural.
After making a few minor adjustments, he will use a special curing light to harden the material. To finish, Dr. Semans will polish the tooth and make sure it feels comfortable when you bite.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Dental veneers are wafer-thin shells of porcelain that we can apply to your teeth to adjust their shape and appearance. We use this to fix teeth that are chipped, cracked, misshapen, or stained. We can also use veneers to improve misaligned teeth and fill in small gaps. Unlike dental bonding, porcelain veneers are made off-site at a dental laboratory. It usually takes about four weeks for your new porcelain veneer to be ready.
During your follow-up visit, Dr. Semans will prepare your tooth by gently removing a thin layer of enamel. This will help the veneer sit naturally over your tooth. Next, Dr. Semans will attach your porcelain veneer with special dental cement, and will make any final adjustments to ensure it fits properly.
