FAQ
When Should I Go to the Dentist?
We recommend visiting your dentist at least two times per year. Dr. Semans may recommend more frequent visits depending on your health, treatment schedule, and medical history.
Routine visits help us to keep your teeth clean while checking for signs of underlying health problems. It is extremely important to find and address dental issues early, so keeping up with your regular visits will help us catch cavities, infections, and decay before they have time to worsen.
In the meantime, if you experience a dental issue or injury between visits, please call and schedule an appointment. We will be happy to find a place for you in our schedule.
What Age of Patients Do You Treat?
At Semans Family Dentistry, we are happy to treat patients of all ages – from toddler to senior and everyone in-between. Our caring staff is committed to helping your loved ones feel safe and stress-free during their appointment. We have designed our office to be comfortable and welcoming to everyone.
How Do I Care for My Teeth at Home?
Maintaining an excellent hygiene routine at home is one of the best ways to keep your smile bright and healthy. To begin, we recommend brushing and flossing at least twice per day. Brush using a soft-bristled brush and use a toothpaste with fluoride whenever possible. Mouthwash is also an excellent addition to your routine since it can help kill bacteria in hard-to-reach areas of the mouth.
To prevent cracks, chips, and other tooth damage, do not use your teeth as tools and avoid chewing on hard foods such as ice. To keep your smile bright and white, try to avoid eating and drinking too many dark or dyed foods and drinks. Coffee, tea, wine, and tobacco can all stain your teeth when consumed too frequently.
What Should I Bring to My Appointment?
Whether you are a new or returning patient, we ask that you bring a current copy of your ID and insurance cards. We will also ask our new patients to fill out our personal information and medical history forms. If you are a current patient and have recently experienced a significant life change, such as marriage, new employment, or change of address, we ask that you let us know so we can make the necessary adjustments to our files.
What Are Your Arrival Instructions?
Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your appointment. Because of health and safety restrictions, we ask that you bring a companion or family member only if necessary.
Please wear a mask into the office. Do not come in if you feel unwell or have been in contact with someone who has contracted COVID-19. For more comprehensive arrival instructions, please visit our sterilization protocol page here
